Restaurant-Check: TRB at the Forbidden City, Beijing
After a short walk through Beijing we arrived at the wonderful TRB Restaurant. We were seated in the back of the restaurant next to the window with a stunning view to the Forbidden City and were warmly welcomed with a glass of champagne.
The first amuse bouche was a fluffy Parmesan marshmallow paired with a tomato soup in a bubble and a slice of bread with anchovies. Deep fried Parmesan puffs were the second amuse bouche. A red wine mousse served with bacon and crusty bread were served as the last amuse bouche.
The cold starter was a graved salmon which had a lovely, soft texture and a wonderful taste - the salmon was garnished with horseradish. Together with the starter, we had an Italian Pinot Grigio which accompanied the wonderful softness of this dish.
After the cold starter we had a homemade potato soup with sour cream and smoked eel. It was really a lovely combination of sweet, sour and salty ingredients.
Our main course was separated. Once we had a codfish served with potato fondue and a lovely cauliflower puree. And the second one was a beef filet with a delicious sweet onion sauce and a potato parmesan espuma. The last main course was a beef carpaccio served on a beef bone.
Now we had the chance to get a wonderful dessert selection. We started with a fat chocolate cake served with vanilla ice cream and gone further with a lovely homemade tartelette with a welcoming phrase on it – we were really happy about this little surprise.
With the coffee they served some fresh pastries – some kind of dough balls. And the last little things were handcrafted marshmallows and a tiny cake. As a digestive we had a wonderful and aromatic scotch whisky.
And again they had a wonderful surprise they took a picture of us with their wonderful dessert and printed it for us to take it along as a good memory from this lovely and unforgettable place.
Last but not least, we can only say WOW to this gorgeous new restaurant in Beijing.
We were exclusively hosted by the Temple Restaurant Beijing and are very grateful for this joyful evening. However all above written expresses our own opinion and has not been influenced.
