Restaurant-Check: Solar Berlin

When we have found the hidden entrance of the well-known restaurant/bar, the scurity guy welcomed us in a friendly way. He sent us to the elevator around the corner and the adventure began: a modern glass elevator took us up to the top floor. From there you have a wonderful view over the city. After this wonderful first impression we arrived at the well designed Solar.

A young waiter asked us for the reservation and accompanied us to a table next to the window - this must be one of the most breathtaking views over Berlin! With the menu we got the hard choice for an aperetive. We have choosen the "bombasilic" a cocktail basing on gin, tonic water and basil, which the "jamaican" which consists out of rum, passion fruit and lemon - both were amazing. The cocktail trend in Berlin is going to self created and really special drinks, a progress I really like!

Now to the food, which is really at the same level like the view and the drinks. As a starter we had a high-quality beef tartar served on a roasted dark rye bread and fresh herbs. The main course was a duet of beef - a stewed and a grilled part accompanied by mashed celery. The desert has been a small selection of goodies served as sweet tapas. A small crème brûlée, an allmond cake with cherries, a chocolate brownie with a green apple sauce and a tonka bean ice cream.
