Our weekly dose of christmas escapes

It's been a crazy start in this December and already time again for another luxury escape to a local spa resort or a pre-christmas ski holiday. Don't you also dream of hot chocolate in front of a fire place with heavenly fur blankets? And isn't it time to unpack the ski and head to Austria or Switzerland? We immediately need an escape and will be away for two days at the Aqua Dome next weekend as well as a pre-christmas trip to Prague on 20 December to get a charming feel of the holiest time in the year.

Our Top Picks for December:

1.) Mr. Travel Executive's Winter Getaway:

Thurnher's Alpenhof - Zürs am Arlberg, Austria

A village full of snow, a small boutique hotel and lots of luxury and picturesque design combined with an unparalleled spa area and heavenly bathrooms - this is what we imagine when dreaming of a ski holiday.

What do I love about this hotel? First of all it's is size! You can't believe how many ski hotels have more rooms than they have lounge chairs on the pool - I hate this. So here at the Thurnher's Alpenhof you can be sure that you are not just a number, you are a Guest - and you will be treated like royalty: Here, it's the owners who take personal care of you!

Why do I go there?

Loewe LED-TVs even in the bathroom, stylish interios, full size Etro Relent toiletries and exclusive materials everywhere you look.

Last rooms are available from 14 to 20 December for 450 euros including breakfast or 530 euros including the marvelous half board - of course just for the Double Room.

2.) How Mr. Beverage Executive spends his ski holidays:

Badrutt's Palace Hotel - St. Moritz, Switzerland

Grab your ski, a luxurious outfit, your Porsche or BMW and head to St. Moritz. For years this ski resort is known for luxury, glamour and celebrities everywhere you look. Not to forget the world class Swiss Service and Hospitality, St. Moritz has got more luxury hotels than any other ski resort in Switzerland. When you love tradition combined with a heartwarming atmosphere and probably the best old-school service, then look no further than... yes you might guess the answer: the Badrutt's Palace Hotel!

Why do I go there?

St. Moritz has a lot of style and I love to have a good Whiskey in the Lounge or an excellent red wine in the private atmosphere of my lake-view room.

Rooms starting at 550 euros on a Monday in March including breakfast, this could be one of the most luxurious ski holidays you have ever had.

2.) Mr. Food Executive's Winter Inspiration:

Hôtel Mont-Blanc - Megeve, France

Be careful! This is one of the coziest ski hotels we have seen so far. Every room is designed in a different way and again we can see, a small ski hotel is sometimes slightly more comfortable then the large ones. Fire places in the lobby, fur blankets on the beds, traditional wood walls and floors as well as all fabrics throughout the property make the Hôtel Mont Blanc a really special place to stay. Simply perfect for skiing the slopes of Europe's highest mountain.

Why do I go there?

I love the french cuisine and I like even more if the hotel does focus on excellent food and not on lots of style and high-tech design. It's the most peaceful place for me.

Slightly more affordable then the famous competitor (Courchevel), Double Rooms are available at 340 euros per room and night excluding breakfast.
