Luciano K Hotel, Santiago de Chile

After the longest flight I have ever had - two and a half hours from Munich to Madrid and then another 14 hours from Madrid to Santiago the Chile and an arrival at the Santiago airport which couldn’t be more chaotic because of the constructions, I have finally made it to the lovely boutique hotel Luciano K in the heart of Santiago de Chile. Prior my I arrival, I was contacted by one of the reservation managers who asked me for more information regarding my stay. I informed them of my early morning arrival due to my flight with Iberia and therefore arrived at the hotel at around 11.00 a.m. but this was totally no problem for the hotel. They were already set and expecting me - my room was already waiting for me too.

At the front desk I was warmly welcomed and checked in by the front desk manager personally. After getting a short inspection of the whole property, the concierge brought be to my lovely deluxe room. We went up with this amazing elevator which is literally the heart of the hotel. The black iron of the elevator which optically takes you back to the thirties matched awesomely to the staircase which was all out of marble.

I already fell in love with my room after opening the dark wooden door and entering the spacious deluxe bedroom. It was designed in a very stylish way with decent colors and a wonderful old parquet floor. The first thing you see when you enter is the heavenly king size bed. A little bit further back was a little working space with a small desk. Right behind was the bathroom which was equipped with a big bathtub. The bathroom was facing the street where you had a lovely view into the green because the hotel was next to the parque forestal.

The Luciano K hotel is definitely more like an inner city hideaway than one of those lively and busy city bunkers. The hotel was lovely designed with so many details perfectly matching the city and its architecture. Starting with those colorful tiles which are so topical for Chile, to the bar which was more like a comfortable living room. The whole place gave me the feeling to be at home rather than being in a hotel.

I was in love with Santiago from the first second. There is such a calm and relaxed flair with all its narrow streets small markets and green parks. Really worth to visit is the big fish market in Mercado central which is just a five to ten minutes' walk from the hotel - it’s a sight itself with all the barkers, the exotic fresh fishes and the restaurant area where you have to try one of their daily specials. The second big market is La Vega where they sell fresh fruits and flowers. I was already flashed by the fresh smell inside the hall. After the markets I just strolled through the streets of Bellas Artes and Lastarria - two lovely quarters next to Luciano K. Another place you must have seen in Santiago is the Cerro San Cristobal. A mountain just a couple of minutes away from the hotel in the Bellavista district which is the place to be for food lovers and it’s also well known for its nightlife. But during the day you can walk up to the mountain and enjoy the view by the big statue of Jesus Christ. For all those who don’t want to walk up there is a funicular going up as well. I spend nearly a whole day up the mountain enjoying the calm breeze and all the viewing points over all parts of the city with the Andes in the back.

After the full day of sightseeing, I was right back in the hotel for a sunset cocktail at the really amazing Terassa K the roof top terrace with a small pool and a cozy bar area. The bar is totally fitting into this hotel. You can find the same colorful tiles like inside and some retro accessories. I really want to highlight the good service at the bar all - of them were young and motivated and my cocktail was amazing. This place is so magnificent it’s definitely a must to visit while in Santiago. You have this breathtaking view over the hills and the roofs of the city. There I took the chance to try my first pisco sour - so to say the Chilean national drink - and I loved it. It’s a delicious mixture of pisco, the South American brandy, fresh lemon juice, sugar and just a dash of angostura bitter. This really rounds up the whole the great view, the lovely decorated bar area and the stunning sunset.

In the morning after a heavenly night I was ready for the day and wanted to start my day with a light breakfast - I did expect a small breakfast buffet. But nevertheless they surprised me with a big choice in the restaurant. They offered fresh eggs different fresh juices, home made pastries and cakes fresh fruit salads yogurts and home made jams. Everything was so amazing and delicious.

For me it was the perfect place to start my big adventure in Chile where I am going to stay for approximately six month. Their reputation is really great within the country and I can confirm they live up to this high standards. Every single staff member was beyond friendly and welcoming. They went the extra mile and it's wonderful to see hotels that still are flawless!

We were invited by the Luciano K Hotel as the first property to be tested in Chile, however all above written expresses our own opinion and has not been influenced.
