What does the word cool mean? How cool can a hotel be? Which hotels know exactly when they are too cool? Let's face the facts: While I loved my stay at the Andaz Tokyo, it is not a brand that is super cool - it's more sleek and still elegant, whereas W Hotels are really really cool - in terms of design, service and atmosphere. To be honest, the W Hotel Bangkok went beyond our already high expectations, being one of the city's more expensive hotels. With 403 rooms, I was thinking that it is not possible in any way to build up a cozy atmosphere and a personal relationship to the staff members. I can't tell you how terribly wrong I was! Even my colleagues Lukas and Niklas did not expect the W Bangkok to be one of the best Hotels we have stayed in Asia so far. The stay turned out to be marvelous!

As soon as we arrived with our Emirates Limousine, the bellman came and helped us with the luggage and showed us the way to the front desk. At the reception we were welcomed in a warm way and a truly kind guy with glasses checked us in (the same person who handled all our concerns during our stay in an excellent way). They asked us when we would be leaving the hotel and after we told them that we have a pick up at 10pm they already blocked our room until 10pm on the departure day without a charge which was super cool and so much appreciated. You can't imagine how relaxing such a late check out is before a 30-hour journey back to Europe. After doing all the paperwork, we were accompanied to the elevators and we moved to the room on ourselves - not a big problem as the hotel is situated in a skyscraper so you can't really get lost.

After we opened the glamorous door of Room 3020, we could not believe what we found there: We have been upgraded to a Marvelous Suite, their third highest category. So we were standing there with no breath, not knowing which part to inspect first. Let's start with the entrée where there was a guest toilet, a floor-to-ceiling mirror, a chair and lots of wardrobe space. The living room consists of a big fur sofa with a vast writing desk and comfortable chair, big minibar with lots of alcoholic drinks (Welcome to Bangkok where you can turn each hotel suite into your party mile) as well as a big flat-screen television plus a huge window overlooking the Skytrain station and the brand new still-in-construction Ritz Carlton next doors. Before we moved further to the most important part (the bathroom) we had a look into the bedroom which was furnished with this heavenly king bed and these boxing gloves on top. The bathroom was open-style with a spacious walk-in shower, separate toilet, double vanities, lots of Bliss toiletries (in 120ml), a free standing bath tub overlooking the bedroom plus a small television for your relaxing time.

Before we headed to our appointment with the tailor, a must when in Bangkok and looking to be the most dapper guys in the luxury tourism industry ;-), we enjoyed the supercool Wet Deck at the W Bangkok. With its special design and underwater music, it was definitely not that unique pool of any five star hotel. Unfortunately we were traveling in rain season and therefore couldn't enjoy the pool in its full blossom, however it was so relaxing to swim a few rounds after the exhausting sightseeing with EXO Travel. By the way we went to the tailor Tony Silom which has been recommended by one of the best concierges we ever met: KJ (Watcharee Tangjidsoopakarn - the W Insider at the Bangkok and the coolest staff member when it comes to W Bangkok's Instagram posts). In fact she managed everything for us: might it be rescheduling our dinner appointments (yes we had to change all of them ;-)), organizing a massage treatment at a place where the don't ripp you off (Health Land Silom) plus organizing a big Mercedes van for all three of us instead of three Mercedes E-Classes even though they were complimentary by Emirates.

Breakfast was another amazing part of the stay at the W Bangkok. I have already heard great things about this one but never would I have expected to find a buffet better than at many European leading hotels. When we arrived at the restaurant we were always accompanied to our table, could order coffee instantly and while we were on the buffet all ordered things were brought on the table, so we never waited for anything. Coffee was excellent, the eggs as good as  at an Austrian farmer's place and the quality of the products on the buffet outstanding! While I was not a fan of the taste of their orange juice, I loved the bread and the sushi selection as well as the fresh yoghurts and other juices. On the second day we were greeted by the Assistant F&B Manager by last name which we would have never expected.

All in all I have to admit that our stay at W Bangkok was outstanding and perfect. We felt so welcome and I am really considering staying there again when I am back in Bangkok. Everyone was so kind, personal and attentive. It is great to see a hotel with 400 rooms to be managed so well, congratulations to the Management for the excellent work. A place that is perfect to be presented on Travel Executive.

We were invited by the W Bangkok for editorial purposes during our entire stay in Bangkok. However all above written expresses our personal opinion and has not been influenced.
