The 7 perfect ski spots - Get ready for the slopes!

It's been pretty busy the last week. We have been setting up a new office in Lausanne, Switzerland from where we are going to test some outrageous luxury hotels in Europe's most central country and we finally will focus on the super exclusive French ski resorts with its even more glamorous ski hotels. The list of superb hotels is nearly as long as our travel bucket-list so we have chosen a truly special mix of hotels we like and we are going to be staying the next upcoming winter months.

Let's be honest, don't you feel like getting out of bed and hopping in your plush bath robe after a in-room breakfast with your loved one and then directly head to the spa for some relaxing hours at the warm pool. How about a ride on the slopes after that? The snow is perfectly prepared, powdered and the trees in the coniferous forest look like they have just got a perfect new cut. Why wait until the christmas holidays when you can get a spontaneous pre-christmas-stress weekend? Come on and follow us to these amazing hotels that are just perfect to recharge your batteries for the upcoming family events:

1. Almhof Schneider - Lech, Austria

Since my stay in December 2015, still the number one ski hotel in the world. Service was simply the best (it is equal to Ritz Carlton), the design absolutely my taste, perfect setting, personal atmosphere, super sized rooms and suites plus the most stylish ski room I have seen in my life. On top of all that comes the eat whatever & whenever half board, meaning you can order anything you want for dinner and breakfast and it is still included in the package. This hotel has an extremely high price tag, but at least this is the one I would spend my whole yearly savings.

Room rates from: 770.00 EUR per room and night incl. half board in absolute low season, normally around 900 to 1.000 euros per night for a solid double room.

2. Le Chalet Zannier - Megève, France

The first things that come to my mind when I hear French Alps, superb design, coziness and intimate atmosphere. I couldn't imagine to spend ski holidays any more stylish: from the sleek interior, which is still spreading a warm atmosphere, a super cool restaurant, a small and intimate spa area, to Aesop bath products. What else does it need to have a perfect time in France' best ski town?

Room rates from: 550.00 EUR per room and night incl. breakfast in low season

3. Hotel Aurelio - Lech, Austria

This hotel is like flying Privat Jet: There is not a big gap to First Class (Almhof Schneider) and far above Business Class (Hotel Post Lech, where the Royals of the Netherlands stay every year), which would already be great enough - and not accessible to everyone. Arriving in style means sipping the first glass of Veuve on the sun terrace (one of the only ones in Lech) while doing check-in during relaxation process. Staying means being guest in one of the very limited rooms and suites with super exclusive Un Jardin sur le Nil by Hermes toiletries and a bottle of Veuve Clicquot. The spa is even more exclusive with as much lounge chairs as maximum guests of the hotel, as well as a super warm pool and plenty of other fun things (hot jacuzzi, warm jacuzzi, ice pod, raindance showers and so on). Food is heaven on earth. It is THE most expensive ski hotel in the world, and it nearly meets the word perfection.

Room rates from: 1.200.00 EUR per room and night incl. half board in low season, going to 2.400 in high season as well as 4.200 euros per night for a solid double room during christmas holidays.

4. Stock Resort - Zillertal, Austria

In mood for a fun weekend with your friends or beloved ones? A girls or gents weekend? The Stock resort is the one and only place to go. The infinity pool gave the resort an unique upgrade and is definitely ready for the international luxury jetset, with new suites that have just been updated and a gorgeous food presentation at dinner and breakfast. Value for money is extremely good and the owner Daniel - not only the coolest hotel manager we have met - is taking personal care of his guests, as he does of his wines and cigars. A hotel that might not only attract the modern women (because of the VAST Stock Diamond Spa), also because it is fit for Mr. GoodLife.

Room rates from: 360.00 EUR per room and night incl. half board in low season

5. Carlton Hotel - St. Moritz, Switzerland

St Moritz has always been a glamorous, yet super expensive spot in the Alps. The Hotel Carlton is set on top of the town and has got even more glamorous views than the Badrutts Palace up the street. After a day of shopping or skiing on the slopes, head to the cool spa, indulge in your vast Suite or enjoy the afternoon tea on the panoramic terrace. No, Ski holidays can't get any more glamorous.

Room rates from: 1.000.00 CHF per room and night incl. breakfast in low season

6. Jagdgut Wachtelhof - Maria Alm, Austria

Room rates from: 330.00 EUR per room and night incl. breakfast in low season

6. The Chedi - Andermatt, Switzerland

Room rates from: 500.00 CHF per room and night incl. breakfast in low season

7. Matterhorn Focus - Zermatt, Switzerland

Room rates from: 210.00 CHF per room and night incl. breakfast in low season

Having said all that about luxury hotels and their amazing service, the best place to spend the christmas holidays is with your family and your friends. As an Austrian born all I need to have a wonderful winter weekend is a fire place, a bottle of excellent red wine, a Cohiba and a good friend to have fun with. Actually what else do we need to call our life a Good Life? As long as we are all in health and are able to plane and do luxurious and unforgettable trips.

In this way, I wish you a truly wonderful winter time and might all your wishes be fulfilled.

Daniel
